What Nicotine Pouches Cost in Vietnam, and Why

Every one of the 682 products in the VinaPouches catalogue is ₫250.000 a can. The same figure whether the tin is a 3mg mini or the strongest thing on the site, and whether the name on it is ZYN, VELO or a Swedish house nobody outside Scandinavia has heard of. That is the one number on this page we can state as a fact, because it comes off our own price list rather than out of a survey.

The more useful question, if you have just arrived and are working out whether that is a normal price, is what sits behind it — and what it means when you see the same can advertised for a fraction of it.

The figure, and how it was checked

Every price in the catalogue was read rather than remembered. All 682 products carry exactly one variant with exactly one price entry, in dong, and across all 682 the distinct set of prices has exactly one member: 250.000. Not one of them carries a separate compare-at price, so nothing on the site is presented as marked down from something else.

Two things we are deliberately not telling you. We are not claiming this is the lowest price in Vietnam — we have not surveyed the market and could not honestly say so. And we are not promising the figure holds: import costs move, and the price that binds is the one displayed when you place the order. What is checkable is the price list as it stands today, and that is what is quoted here.

Delivery lands on the order, not on the can

Our published shipping term is ₫25.000 for same-day GrabExpress inside Ho Chi Minh City on orders placed before 2 PM on a business day. Anywhere else in the country it is calculated at checkout and we publish no flat figure, so none is quoted here.

Because that fee attaches to the order rather than to each can, it thins out as the order grows — one can plus city delivery is ₫275.000, while ten cans plus the same delivery works out at ₫252.500 each. Cost per pouch needs a number we do not publish

The obvious next step is dividing ₫250.000 by the number of pouches in the tin. We cannot do that division for you: the pouch-count field exists on every product in our catalogue and is empty on all 682, because the data the catalogue was built from did not carry it. Leaving it blank is better than filling it with whatever number most cans happen to hold.

So the count comes off the base of the can in your hand, and the arithmetic is one division. It matters more than people expect — two cans at the identical ₫250.000 can be two thirds apart on cost per pouch purely because of how many are inside.

What actually sets the price of an imported pouch

Every can here is imported, and none of the 49 brands is a Vietnamese maker. Our brand data records ZYN, VELO, Siberia, White Fox, Skruf, XQS and Ace as Swedish and 77 as Czech, and our published sourcing line is that stock comes from an authorised European distributor. A tin has to physically arrive in the country before anyone can sell it, and that is what sets the floor under the price. It is made of five things:

• The wholesale price in Europe. Where the cost starts, in euro, before a can has moved a metre.
• Freight and import handling. Shipping, customs formalities and the charges that attach to bringing a consignment into the country.
• Holding stock locally. Our stock sits in Ho Chi Minh City rather than overseas. That costs money and is the only reason same-day delivery exists at all; a seller who orders from abroad after you pay carries no such cost, and no such speed.
• The retail apparatus. An age check at entry and again at checkout, a tracked parcel, an order record, a returns route, and a published EAN on every listing. None of that is free, and an informal seller carries none of it.
• Currency. Stock is bought in euro and sold in dong. Exchange movement lands on the importer between the two.

Note what is not in that list: the strength on the tin. Whatever a given brand costs at wholesale, this catalogue does not pass the difference through — all 682 products sit at one figure, from the lightest mini to the strongest slim. What an unusually cheap listing usually indicates

Price is the most reliable warning sign in this category, and the only one you can apply before anything is in your hand. Imported pouches have a floor made of the five costs above. A listing well underneath it is being subsidised by something, and it is worth knowing what the usual somethings are.

• It is not what the label says. Counterfeit, refilled and relabelled cans are the most common explanation for a price that does not add up. • It came back in someone's luggage. Grey-market stock bought abroad and resold through a chat app can be perfectly genuine, and still leaves you with no order record, no returns route and nobody to raise a problem with once the conversation goes quiet.
• It is old. An unopened can keeps roughly twelve months from production and the date is printed on the base. Deep discounts on stock that has been sitting somewhere warm are a recognisable pattern, and "clearance", "last stock" and "damaged box" are the standard framings for it.
• The advertised price is not the price you pay. Delivery excluded, a minimum order attached, or a discount that only exists on a bundle. Compare the total at the door, not the number in the photograph.

Alongside the price itself, four things are worth noticing before you commit: whether there is a published catalogue at all or only photos in a chat thread, whether anyone asked your age, whether full payment is demanded up front to a personal account, and whether a returns policy exists in writing. The one cross-check that costs nothing
