VELO in Vietnam: Strengths, Flavours and What BAT Publishes

VELO is British American Tobacco's tobacco-free nicotine pouch brand, and it is the largest single range at VinaPouches — 46 of our 682 products, ahead of ZYN at 42 and LOOP at 38. The thing worth knowing before you order is that VELO almost never prints a milligram figure. Three of those 46 cans carry a stated per-pouch dose. The other 43 are graded with a word, and learning to read those words is the whole skill of buying this brand.
If you used VELO in Europe and want to know what survives the trip to Vietnam, this is the availability answer: what is on the shelf, in which strengths and formats, and what the label does and does not tell you. The tasting notes are in our separate VELO review.
Who makes VELO
VELO is a British American Tobacco brand, sold across most of Europe and much of Asia, and in several markets it replaced the earlier LYFT branding — which is why long-stay residents who left Europe a few years ago sometimes remember the cans under the other name. Our brand data records its origin as Sweden, the country where the whole white-pouch format was developed.
Scale is why VELO turns up everywhere. It is the pouch a newcomer to Vietnam is most likely to have already held before ever searching for a specialist shop.
Why the search term says snus, and why the word is wrong
Almost everyone here calls this category snus, which is how the brand gets searched for in Vietnam. Strictly, it is the wrong word: traditional Swedish snus is ground tobacco leaf and is brown, while a VELO pouch is white and contains no tobacco leaf at all — nicotine, plant fibre, flavouring, sweetener and water in a food-grade fleece bag.
Tobacco-free does not mean nicotine-free. The nicotine in a white pouch is still nicotine and is still addictive; it simply is not carried on tobacco. The full explanation of the category, including where Vietnamese law currently stands, is in our guide to what nicotine pouches are.
The three VELO cans that publish a number
This is the part to read twice. Counted across all 46 VELO products in the catalogue, exactly three carry a per-pouch nicotine figure:
- VELO Zesty Elderflower — 4mg per pouch, read across from VELO's own "low" step rather than printed on the can.
- VELO Arctic Grapefruit Normal — 6mg per pouch, read across from the "normal" step.
- VELO Bright Spearmint 14mg — the one VELO product here that states its milligrams outright.
For the remaining 43, the maker publishes no per-pouch dose, so the strength field on those product pages is empty. We do not estimate one, convert one, or borrow one from another can in the same family. It leaves some VELO pages looking thinner than a competitor's listing, and that is deliberate: a dose printed on an age-restricted product either traces back to the manufacturer or it should not be printed.
One consequence worth stating plainly, because you will see it written the other way: 4mg to 14mg is not a VELO strength range. It is the lowest and highest of three figures. It says nothing about where the other 43 cans sit, and treating it as a ladder would mean inventing 43 doses.
The words on the other 43 cans
Instead of numbers, VELO grades with vocabulary. Counted across the 46 titles in this catalogue, the strength words that actually appear are Normal, MAX, Ultra, High Nic, (ES) and Zero. VELO uses other words in other markets, and you will find pages listing several more as part of the ladder — those are not on any VELO can we stock, so they are not listed here. We also leave (ES) unexpanded: expanding an abbreviation the maker prints in brackets would be our reading, not VELO's label.
Two rules follow. Within VELO the vocabulary is a genuine internal ranking, so Freezing Peppermint, Freezing Peppermint MAX and Freezing Peppermint Ultra do step upwards in that order. Across brands it is worth nothing: two cans from two makers both marked Ultra can be a long way apart, and neither is measured against the other.
Slim, mini, and 28 cans that say neither
Of the 46 VELO products, 10 are listed as slim and 8 as mini. The remaining 28 state no format at all, which is the same reporting gap as the missing milligram figures — where the maker publishes nothing, the field stays empty.
Format matters because it changes how much of the pouch touches the gum. A slim pouch lies flat along the gum line; a mini is shorter and thinner and sits more quietly under the lip. At the same nicotine level, a slim generally registers faster than a mini for that reason alone.
Only one VELO flavour exists in both shapes here: Sour Lime, listed as a slim and as a mini. If you want to keep a taste fixed and change only the shape, that is the single VELO pairing that lets you do it. ZYN, by contrast, has six flavours in both formats — the comparison is laid out in full in ZYN versus VELO.
The flavour range: 35 names
Breadth is the honest reason people choose VELO. Counting distinct flavour names across the 46 products — ignoring format and strength wording — the range runs to 35 separate names, the widest of any brand in this catalogue.
Fourteen of the 46 are mint of some kind: the peppermint family runs from Bright and Crispy through Freezing and Peppermint Storm, and the spearmint side covers Bright, Green and Simply Spearmint. The fruit half is where VELO separates itself — Ruby Berry, Dark Blackcurrant, Purple Grape, Blue Raspberry, Icy Cherry, Cherry Ice, Dark Cherry, Blueberry Ice, Peach Ice, Wintery Watermelon, Tropical Mango, Tropical Ice, Guava Passionfruit, Coconut Lime, Sour Lime, Lime Flame, Mango Flame, Orange Spark, Arctic Grapefruit and Zesty Elderflower.
Three things in the range have no equivalent anywhere else on the site. Shift is a five-product line built around heat rather than cold: Hot Dragonfruit, Hot Grape, Hot Peach, Hot Spearmint and Cool Peppermint. Guava Jalapeno and McLaren Spicy Papaya take the same idea into single cans. And Salty Liquorice is the Nordic staple that Vietnamese buyers either order repeatedly or never order twice.
VELO Zero: four cans with no nicotine in them
Four VELO products contain no nicotine at all — Bright Peppermint Zero, Purple Grape Zero, Tropical Mango Zero and Wintery Watermelon Zero. They carry the flavour and the under-lip routine and nothing else. We make no further claim for them: a Zero can is a pouch without nicotine, and people buy it for the taste and the habit. The rest of the 0mg range sits alongside it.
Buying VELO in Vietnam
There is no VinaPouches shop to walk into, in any city. Everything is delivered, and stock is held in Ho Chi Minh City rather than overseas, which is the only reason same-day is possible at all.
- Price. Every one of the 682 products in the catalogue, VELO included, carries one variant at ₫250.000 a can, with no separate compare-at price on any of them. What sits behind that figure — and what an unusually cheap listing elsewhere usually means — is covered in what nicotine pouches cost in Vietnam.
- Delivery. Same day inside Ho Chi Minh City for orders placed before 2 PM on a business day. Hanoi 1–2 business days, Da Nang 2–3, other provinces 3–5. Every parcel carries a tracking number. Details on the shipping page.
- Payment. Cash to the courier on arrival. No card number or e-wallet credential is entered on this site at any point.
- Packaging. A plain box, no brand name or product wording on the outside.
- Returns. A sealed, unopened can can be returned within 7 days of delivery. An opened can cannot, for hygiene reasons.
Every can ships sealed and carries the maker's batch code and EAN barcode printed on the base, and the EAN is published on the product page so you can check the can in your hand against the listing rather than take anyone's word for it. VELO Arctic Grapefruit Normal, for instance, is EAN 5715345026503. The full check takes about thirty seconds and is set out in how to spot a fake can.
Keeping a can intact in this climate
Vietnam is harder on pouches than Scandinavia is. Keep cans sealed and below roughly 25°C, and never leave one in a parked motorbike — a closed compartment here in the afternoon can pass 50°C, which dries the pouches out within days. The fridge, not the freezer, suits stock you are not opening this week. More in the storage guide.
If you would rather have a number than a word
VELO is a poor tool for anyone who wants to track an exact figure, and there is no point pretending otherwise. Brands in this catalogue that publish a per-pouch dose on nearly every can are the better instrument for that job: ZYN grades S1 to S6, which reads across to 3mg through 18mg per pouch; CLEW prints 5, 10 and 20mg; XQS runs from 4mg to 17mg. You can also browse by band directly — light, regular, extra strong — and our strength guide explains what the bands mean and where the numbers on a can come from.
The whole range is on the VELO brand page, the rest of the catalogue is in the shop, and the strength, storage and delivery answers are collected in the FAQ.
Nicotine is an addictive substance and raises heart rate and blood pressure. These products are for adults aged 18 and over who already use nicotine — not for anyone under 18, not for people who do not currently use nicotine, and not for anyone pregnant or breastfeeding. Keep away from children and pets: a used pouch still contains nicotine. If a pouch leaves you dizzy, sweaty or nauseous, remove it, rinse your mouth, drink water and sit down until it passes; seek medical help if it does not.
General product information, not medical or legal advice. VinaPouches is a retailer rather than a medical provider and makes no health claim about anything it sells. Every product figure on this page was counted from the VinaPouches catalogue on 6 August 2026, and where a manufacturer publishes no per-pouch dose we show none rather than estimating one. Prices and delivery terms can change, and the price that binds is the one shown when you place the order. Regulation of oral nicotine products in Vietnam is changing and should be re-checked after the National Assembly session of October 2026. Last reviewed: 06/08/2026.
Frequently asked questions
A nicotine pouch is a small white pouch of nicotine, plant fibre, flavouring and water that you park between your upper lip and gum for 15 to 60 minutes. No tobacco, no smoke, no vapour, no spitting. Nicotine crosses the gum lining rather than the lungs, so nothing is inhaled and nothing is burnt. A pouch leaves no smell on your hands, clothes or breath, which is why they are used at a desk, on a motorbike, in a meeting or on a flight where smoking is impossible. Pouches come in strengths from 3mg to 25mg and in slim, mini and regular formats.
No. Every pouch VinaPouches sells is tobacco-free: nicotine, plant-based fibre (usually eucalyptus or pine cellulose), food-grade flavouring, sweetener and water. No tobacco leaf, dust or stem is used at any stage. Tobacco-free does not mean nicotine-free. The nicotine in a white pouch is still nicotine and is still addictive; it is simply not delivered on a bed of tobacco. If you want a product with no nicotine at all, look at the Zero and Energy lines.
Most people new to nicotine pouches start at 4–6mg per pouch. 9–12mg is the common everyday range for regular users. Anything above 16mg is aimed at people who already have a high nicotine tolerance. Two pouches of the same milligram figure can still feel different: format, pH and moisture all change how fast nicotine arrives. A slim 9mg often feels stronger than a mini 9mg because there is more surface against the gum. If a pouch makes you dizzy, sweaty or nauseous, that is too strong — take it out. VinaPouches cannot tell you what dose suits you; that is a question for a doctor.
VinaPouches sells only to adults aged 18 and over. Age is confirmed at the age gate on entry and again at checkout, and couriers may ask for ID on delivery. Orders that fail an age check are cancelled. Nicotine pouches are not for people who do not already use nicotine, at any age. Buying on behalf of someone under 18 is a breach of our terms and will close the account.
